Recently, 34 units of CAT? 3516E GB and 1 unit of CAT? 3512B high-power diesel generator sets supplied by Lei Shing Hong Machinery have been successfully delivered and passed comprehensive third-party verification tests. Painted in iconic Caterpillar yellow, these units now power the computing base amid the Gobi Desert, injecting robust power supply capacity into the development of the national East Data, West Computing hub.
Flagship Units Undertake Core Power Supply Tasks
Zhongwei, Ningxia, sits at an altitude of 1,300 meters and serves as a national hub node of the national integrated computing power network. Local data centers impose stringent standards on the stability, reliability and power density of power supply systems. CAT? 3516E GB enhanced diesel generator sets, Caterpillar’s flagship high-power model custom-developed for AI intelligent computing critical loads in data centers, have been selected as the core power supply equipment for this project.
Boasting powerful performance, the units support full step loading at 100% rated power and deliver excellent transient response. They can sustain stable power output even under extreme high-temperature conditions, perfectly meeting the emergency power guarantee requirements of high-density AI computing server rooms.

A core breakthrough of this project marks the first large-scale deployment of the 5.0 architecture in Zhongwei. The technical team of Linde Machinery collaborated closely with the client to refine the adaptation solution matching CAT? 3516E GB generator sets with the 5.0 architecture, ensuring long-term stable operation of the equipment and enabling cutting-edge power supply technology for computing power to take root in the Gobi Desert.
As the core equipment supplier, Lei Shing Hong Machinery coordinated the full delivery of all 35 units on schedule and stationed professional technicians on-site long-term to efficiently resolve various technical challenges including equipment compatibility and performance optimization, providing full-lifecycle support for the whole project implementation.
The team went through every critical phase: equipment delivery, hoisting and precise positioning, fine-tuning of individual units, and system joint commissioning of all generator sets. Staff worked through the night to tackle technical bottlene.
Forging Original Aspirations Amid Yellow Sands, Forging Brilliance Through Down-to-Earth Efforts
The completion of this project marks the first large-scale application of CAT? 3516E GB high-power generating units in the western Gobi region, realizing deep integration of cutting-edge power supply technologies with the extreme operating conditions of the Gobi Desert. Stationed in the Gobi, the 35 units will continuously lay a solid and efficient power guarantee foundation for data centers in Zhongwei.
